![]() Relationships are strained to their breaking point as each member of the group deals with the awful thing they had to do, as well as the knowledge that they had all been exposed to whatever terrible disease the stranger had. The following day is filled with tension and silent bitterness as some of the group walk out on foot in search of a means of contacting the authorities, while others stay behind to try and repair the broken truck. The encounter quickly turns violent and the group are forced to kill the hobo in self-defense, but not before Jeff�s pickup truck is crippled in the scuffle. He pleads with the group to call for a doctor, but they can�t as there is no phone reception. His face is pockmarked with bleeding sores, his breathing is labored and sickly. The group are at first delighted with their quaint rustic cabin and its picturesque surroundings, but their fun comes to a grinding halt on their first night, when a severely ill hobo comes knocking on their door. Like Karen, Paul is the kind of guy girls would typically describe as "cute" he isn�t ruggedly handsome, but he certainly has a boyishly good-looking quality about him. However, Paul is hoping that this getaway will bring them together and be the beginning of a lifelong, intimate relationship with her. They�ve always been quite close, but much to Paul�s frustration, never in the romantic sense. A childhood friend of Karen�s, who has secretly been enamoured with her from the very beginning. A keen amateur photographer, she follows her dreams without ever letting life�s little setbacks spoil her optimistic outlook. She is more sensible than most people are at her age, yet she has somehow managed to earn her emotional maturity without becoming disillusioned with the world. ![]() Karen�s short stature and youthful, cheery face make her the kind of girl people call "cute." Yet she is not naive. ![]() But on the day when everything goes to hell, you would see him taking the initiative to do what needed to be done and see it through without complaint. If you met him on a typical day, you wouldn't place too much confidence in him. ![]() Yet despite his carefree exterior, he has an uncanny ability to remain level-headed, even clever, in a real crisis. He has a zest for life, he loves to have fun and doesn�t care who he pisses off along the way. It wouldn�t take a seasoned detective to realize that these two share a very active sex life.īert relishes the persona he projects as a dim-witted goofball. If you were to sit and watch them for any length of time, you would soon realize that the constant, affectionate groping of one another is the defining characteristic of their relationship. They come across as friendly and accommodating enough, but, scratch away at their surface and you would soon discover their natural shallowness. Two pretty people who have found each other and become a couple, as pretty people tend to do. Jeff and his girlfriend, Marcy are beyond a doubt the "lookers" of the group. Five friends, Bert, Jeff, Karen, Marcy and Paul make the long drive down to the serene woods of North Carolina where they�ve rented a small, isolated cabin in which to spend their week of freedom.
